Hi I’m Michelle, the maker behind Burnt by Hand.

My creative journey began with Dorothy Louise Designs, a business named in honour of my Grandma, whose love for all art forms inspired me. As I discovered my passion for pyrography, I realized I wanted a brand that truly reflected the craft itself . That is how Burnt by Hand was born.

Every piece is individually hand-burned— one line at a time— with patience, care, and attention to detail. There are no lasers or mass production , just traditional craftsmanship and a passion for creating meaningful pieces that are made to be used, enjoyed and treasured.

While I’m the one behind the pyrography, Burnt by Hand is truly a team effort. My husband, Chris, is the muscle behind the business- crafting many of our boards, sanding finishing and helping bring each piece to life. Together, we create handcrafted charcuterie boards and kitchenware to hats, home decor, and custom keepsakes, each creation is thoughtfully made to be as unique as the person who owns it.
